Summary

Before joining the Department in July 2013, Anthea was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies (CCCS) at the University of Queensland. She has published widely in feminist cultural and literary studies, including Mediating Australian Feminism (2008), Single Women in Popular Culture (2012), Celebrity and the Feminist Blockbuster (2016), and Postfeminism in Context (2019, with Margaret Henderson). She is also the co-editor of Germaine Greer: Essays on a Feminist Figure (with Maryanne Dever and Lisa Adkins, 2018) and Gender and Australian Celebrity Culture (with Joanna McIntyre, 2020).

Anthea is a leading expert in feminist celebrity studies and co-founded the international Feminist Celebrity Studies Research Network. She is currently completing two new books in this field, Germaine Greer: Celebrity, the Archive, and Popular Feminism (based on research from an ARC Discovery grant) and Femoir: Celebrity feminist life writing in the 21st century.
