Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine
Judd is a current Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Medicine student majoring in Financial Mathematics and Computer Science, and comes from New Zealand. He shares what he is enjoying most about his degree and studying at Sydney.

Why did you decide to study at the University of Sydney?

Sydney is a medium sized city, great climate with a really accommodating environment. There are a plethora of activities to do and the University of Sydney has an amazing campus! Sydney is also quite close to my home in New Zealand and is only a three hour flight away.

Why did you choose your degree?

I was quite undecided about what I wanted to pursue at university after high school graduation. This double degree course has given me plenty of scope to search for a passion. Right now, I am loving computer science in particular and I highly recommend everyone to try at least one computer science elective!

What is the best part about studying in Australia?

People in Australia are really friendly! In particular, all my friends that I have met have contributed greatly to my personal development. In my opinion, the culture here is more relaxed than you would typically find in other countries. I currently reside at International House, an accommodation where I have had some of the greatest experiences in my whole life.

What are you enjoying most about your degree?

Logic plays a fundamental role in both of my undergraduate studies. Both of these majors have assisted me in thinking very logically about problems and how to tackle challenges in the most efficient and effective way. Computer science has been particularly interesting. Since I have never done coding before, I have found it to be a very refreshing change from essays and textbooks.

What are your future aspirations?

Though I am still considering options for the future, I would love to pursue a job in the tech industry. For me, tech seems like such an invigorating field to enter as it is constantly changing, evolving and is always fresh! My degree is preparing me very effectively, learning many different languages in computer science while keeping my mind sharp through financial maths.
