Future Leaders Scheme

Recognising commitment to learning and academic achievement
Australian high school students with the highest ATAR or IBAS of their cohort automatically receive adjustment factors through this scheme.

At the University of Sydney, we value commitment to learning and academic achievement. The Future Leaders Scheme recognises these qualities and awards adjustment factors to students who embody them.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scheme, you must:

  • be a high school student in Australia and:
  • receive the highest ATAR/IBAS in your cohort
  • meet all admission criteria for your selected course.

Students must apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) and place an eligible course as their highest UAC preference in the December Round 2 offer round or the first available offer round after the release of year 12 results for students completing the IB diploma and some Australian state and territory year 12 qualifications.

How to apply

Students who receive the highest ATAR or IBAS in their Year 12 cohort are eligible for this scheme.

If a school has both HSC (or any other Australian state or territory Year 12 qualification) and IB students, the top student from both will be selected for the scheme. If multiple students have the same highest ATAR or IB score from different schools, students with the same mark will be eligible for the scheme.

Choose an eligible course and check that you meet any additional admission criteria.

You are not required to submit supporting documentation and you will be automatically selected for the scheme based on your ATAR or IBAS.

Create an application with UAC and place the course you wish to be considered for under the Future Leaders Scheme as your highest eligible preference in the main offer round for school leavers. This is usually December Round 2 or the first available offer round after the release of your ATAR or IBAS.

Once you have received your results, met the adjusted ATAR and any other additional admission criteria, you will receive an offer from the University of Sydney in the December Round 2 offer round (or the first available offer round after the release of year 12 results for students completing the IB Diploma and some Australian state and territory year 12 qualifications).

Then, all you will need to do is accept your offer and enrol.
