Who's eligible

You must:

  • have an accepted high school qualification
  • have an outstanding ATAR or equivalent
  • meet admission and language requirements
  • be starting an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney Business School, or completing a Foundation Program with a minimum WAM of 90 and admission to an undergraduate coursework degree with the school.

Note: Students who have already commenced tertiary study, or are transferring with credit exemptions or advanced standing are not eligible.

Background

This competitive entry-level scholarship assists high achieving international students with their transition to tertiary study.

1.       Background

a.    This Scholarship was established to assist international students transition to studies in an undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney Business School.

2.       Eligibility

a.    Applicants must be international students commencing an undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney Business School.

b.    Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent) with an outstanding ATAR or equivalent.

c.    Students completing the University of Sydney Foundation Program with a 90% overall average are also considered for this Scholarship, on the condition of successful admission into an undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney Business School.

3.       Selection Criteria

a.    The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.

b.    The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, or their nominated delegates.

4.       Value

a.       The Scholarship is valued at $5,000 per annum and is tenable for up to four years. An honours year is inclusive, if the maximum period for the award has not been reached.

b.       The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. 

c.       Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d.       Transfer of the Scholarship to another degree program is not permitted without the permission of the Dean responsible for the initial program and does not involve lengthening the tenure of this Scholarship.

e.       No other amount is payable.

5.       Ongoing eligibility

a.       To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must enrol in 24 credit points each semester and maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65. Undertaking a minimum full-time load will not extend the duration of the scholarship.

b.       Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

6.       Termination

a.       The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

            I.         withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

            II.         commences part-time study without prior approval,

            III.         does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

            IV.         is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

            V.         accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, for the same purpose as this Scholarship,

            VI.         does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or

            VII.         any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b.       Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.   

c.       Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
