Benefits

This scholarship is valued at $10,000 and will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. It will be paid for up to three years for Bachelor of Commerce students and up to four years for Bachelor of Commerce/Advanced Studies students.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be a domestic, undergraduate student in NSW
  • have completed the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or an approved equivalent secondary school examination in the year prior to commencing an undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney Business School
  • enrol in a University of Sydney Business School undergraduate coursework degree
  • plan to start your studies in the year of award. 

Background

This scholarship was established to recognise and support talented students to achieve their full potential.

1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established in 2012 to recognise talented students and support them to achieve their full potential at the University of Sydney Business School.

2. Eligibility

a. The applicant must meet the Early Offer Year 12 (E12) Pathways Scheme eligibility criteria regarding financial hardship or residing in an area of socio-economic disadvantage;

b. The applicant must receive an unconditional E12 admission offer for Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Advanced Studies;

c. The applicant must enrol in the degree for which an unconditional E12 offer was received, and

d. The applicant must have completed the NSW High School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent in the year prior to commencement of the undergraduate degree.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit,

II. an interview, and

III. demonstrated leadership, initiative and creativity, and extracurricular achievements.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, or their nominated delegates.

4. Value

a. The Scholarship is valued at $10,000 per annum and is tenable for the standard full-time degree duration. The total value of the scholarship is capped at:

I. $30,000 for the Bachelor of Commerce,

II. $40,000 for the Bachelor of Commerce and Advanced Studies.

b. The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 50 each semester.

b. The applicant must remain enrolled into an eligible undergraduate Business degree as their E12 course admission offer via the Early Offer Year 12 Scheme.

c. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

II. commences part-time study without prior approval,

III. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance, 

IV. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

V. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $6,000 per annum or more for the same purpose as this Scholarship,

VI. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or

VII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
