The Scholarship is value up to $2,875 per semester for the non-award units of study. The value will be specified in the Offer Letter.
The value will be determined based on the level of financial disadvantage demonstrated.
Note: The Scholarship will be processed after the census date of the relevant main semester in which the non-award units of study are being undertaken. Non-award units of study taken in intensive sessions will not be covered by this scholarship.

Established in 2018, this Scholarship provides support to students enrolled in the Faculty of Science who demonstrate financial hardship.
1. Background
a. Established in 2018, this Scholarship provides support to students enrolled non-awards units of Study in the Faculty of Science who demonstrate financial hardship.
2. Eligibility
a. Applicants must be domestic full-fee paying commencing or continuing students enrolled in undergraduate non-award units of study within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.
b. Applicants must be able to demonstrate significant ongoing financial hardship.
c. Students enrolled in non-award study must also be concurrently completing their HSC or equivalent and have demonstrated outstanding academic results within science disciplines.
d. In the event the Scholarship is not awarded to students currently completing their HSC or equivalent in any given year, applicants who are attending high school will be able to apply.
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. academic merit,
II. supporting documentation and a personal statement which provides evidence of significant ongoing financial hardship and any other relevant hardship, and
III. a personal statement which outlines the impact of the financial and other hardship circumstances, and how the Scholarship will assist the applicant achieve their educational goals.
b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, or their nominated delegate.
4. Value
a. The Scholarship will provide up to $2,875 per semester for the non-award units of study. The value will be specified in the Offer Letter.
b. The Scholarship will be processed after the census date of the relevant main semester in which the non-award units of study are being undertaken. Non-award units of study taken in intensive sessions will not be covered by this Scholarship.
c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted, and it is not transferable to another University school, faculty or university.
d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
e. No other amount is payable.
5. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from any nominated units of study,
II. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance or complete academic requirements,
III. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
IV. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $8,300 per annum or more for the same purpose as this Scholarship, does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
V. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
