Hearing and Balance Translational Neuroscience

An estimated 15% of the population has dizziness
Our project aims to develop diagnostic techniques to better understand the causes of dizziness in the population.

Our aims

Sydney University hearing and balance researchers have demonstrated global success in developing innovative tools for the diagnosis of hearing and balance disorders. Some of these tests have been commercialized as clinical tools, although many more exist as laboratory-grade tests.

The Hearing and Balance Translational Neuroscience Partnership aims to further develop tools that can be used by triage nurses for the rapid and accurate diagnosis of dizziness. Moreover, we will use these tools to monitor symptom progression and drive therapeutic intervention.
