Australia - China Ocean Science & Technology Symposium No. 3
Following on from the first ACOST Symposium held in Sydney and Canberra Australia, 2005 and the second held in Hainan China, 2009, the third was held over two legs: one in Townsville from 24th to 27th June 2012, and the second in Sydney on 29th and 30th June.
The purpose of the meeting was to foster collaborations between Australian and Chinese institutions. Activities in Townsville included both scientific presentations at James Cook University (JCU) and tours to places like the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences and Reef HQ, the Townsville Aquarium. In Sydney meetings were held at the Sydney Institute of Marine Sciences (SIMS) with a site tour of SIMS. There was a mixture of presentations from scientists of both nations.
