The Pride Network is made up of staff and students who support and advocate on behalf of everyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+. The group meets regularly to discuss any LGBTQIA+ issues and concerns on campus, and provides a channel to raise these with University leadership. The aim is for all members of our community to feel supported and free to contribute their best.
The role of a Pride Network member is to be aware of the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ people and to make a difference in whatever way they feel comfortable.
Anyone is welcome to participate and stand together as a member of the network. Your role is to be a point of support for LGBTQIA+ students and staff, to be aware of the challenges and to make a difference in whatever way you feel comfortable.
This can include being a point of contact or standing against inequality or exclusion.

As part of becoming a member we also offer Sexual, Gender Diversity and Ally training. This session focuses on giving a better understanding of the natural variance in human sexual orientations, gender identities and sex characteristics; exploring relevant terminology, stereotypes, assumptions and understanding the unique challenges LGBTQIA+ people face, in a safe and supportive environment.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the network and undertaking the upcoming training email us at pride.network@sydney.edu.au.
All students are welcome to attend network meetings to discuss and raise LGBTQIA+ inclusion initiatives happening on campus. You can email pride.network@sydney.edu.au to subscribe to our monthly newsletters and receive updates on upcoming meetings and events.
If you’d like to get in touch with someone from the network, including to raise or discuss LGBTQIA+ issues and concerns, you can email pride.network@sydney.edu.au.
OUT for Now is a Canvas site hosted by the Pride Network for those seeking an online university community of LGBTQIA+ students. It is facilitated by Student Support Liaison Officers (SSLOs) from the Pride Network who have gathered fun activities and events that will continue to strengthen the University’s values of inclusion and diversity. It will also provide the latest NSW public health information, and a range of resources that services Australia’s queer communities. In addition to these resources, we can navigate you through the various support services offered by the University. We value your voice and want both staff and students to participate in our diverse online community!
To join this community, you'll need to log in to Canvas (go to 'Courses', then 'All courses' and select 'Browse more courses'. Search 'OUT for Now' and then select 'Join this course').
