Arriving in Sydney

Starting university in a new city or country is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming if you’ve never done it before. To help you settle in to life in Sydney, here are some things you can do before you move and once you arrive.

Overview

Congratulations on accepting your offer to study at the University of Sydney! Now it’s time to plan and prepare for your big move to Sydney. Here’s what you need to do before and when you arrive.

If you have any questions about how to prepare for life in Sydney or at university, you can speak with one of our Peer Support Advisors who are current University students or fill out the Living in Sydney enquiry form

Once you have enrolled, you’ll be able to access our Life@Sydney site which will help you navigate your first semester. This is your go-to guide that will help you prepare for all aspects of your life at the University of Sydney. Through the Life@Sydney site, you’ll find out about student life, wellbeing, studying and getting set up in Sydney including how, where and when to access support. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about your strengths and motivations, as well as your rights and responsibilities as a student.

We are also running informational webinars that will help you to prepare for your journey to Sydney. Register to attend one of the webinars on the following dates. Times are in Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
