Understanding honours

Honours awards and classes

The honours degree is awarded in classes ranging from First Class to Third Class based on your honours mark.

The specific process or calculation used to determine your honours mark will be outlined by your faculty or school. This can also be found in the resolutions in your handbook.

You can find information on honours classes on the guide to grades page.

The University Medal

The University Medal is awarded to honours students based on outstanding academic performance over their complete student enrolment. This includes your honours program and your undergraduate studies. You may be nominated for a medal by your discipline with a decision made by the Honours Board of Examiners.

The University Medal is not necessarily awarded every year or from each discipline.
