Guaranteed ATAR

Select your UAC preferences with confidence
To help you make informed decisions and provide transparency, we have published a guide to ATAR and IB scores that guarantee admission to our courses.

Our guaranteed ATARs give you the confidence to secure a place into most of our courses. The guaranteed ATAR is your ATAR plus any adjustment factors you may be eligible to receive, such as the Academic Excellence Scheme. For some degrees, you will additionally need to meet other applicable admission criteria such as maths prerequisites.

To be offered a place in degree with a guaranteed ATAR, list the degree as your highest eligible preference when you apply. If you meet the guaranteed ATAR or IB score, and any other admission criteria for your selected course, then you will be eligible to receive an offer of admission.

Below is a guide to the guaranteed ATAR and IB for admission in 2021.

International students

International students are also eligible for guaranteed admission. Download the 2021 guide to admission criteria for international students (pdf, 126.3KB) to explore the ATAR (and equivalent) entry scores for some common overseas qualifications.

FAQs

Our transparency around the ATAR allows you to put your preferred course as your first preference with confidence. Meaning, you have all the information needed to make an informed decision about your course preferences.

All domestic and international applicants applying based on a current secondary education (Year 12) qualification, such as the NSW HSC, IB or equivalent are eligible.

Note: ATAR equivalent scores for other accepted non-Australian secondary qualifications are subject to changes in assessment schedules.

For domestic applicants, we offer a range of admission pathways. Meaning, if you are eligible for an admission pathway, you may still gain entry even if you did not achieve the guaranteed ATAR.

You should also consider transferring after completing one full-time year of study. Or, you can explore postgraduate study after completing an undergraduate degree.

No. Guaranteed ATARs only apply to the courses listed above. For courses with no guaranteed ATAR, we provide an indicative ATAR. These courses may have a limited number of places or additional admission criteria where an offer cannot be guaranteed and a higher score may be needed to gain admission.

If you receive an offer, you will be notified by UAC.

The guaranteed ATAR applies to all UAC offer rounds the University participates in. The scores published as guaranteed for a specific year will not change throughout the preference and admissions period (including the December, January and February UAC rounds).

You will only receive an offer from UAC for your highest eligible preference, even if you meet the guaranteed ATAR. You must place your preferred degree as your first preference.

If you are an interstate student and you meet the published guaranteed ATAR, you will be eligible to receive an offer, if you also meet any other admission criteria.

For New Zealand students, if you completed the National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3, an Interstate Transfer Index (ITI) will be calculated by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). This will be used in the admission process, provided you have fulfilled university entrance requirements as set by NZQA.

IB students will be made offers in January if they have achieved the equivalent guaranteed ATAR and any admission criteria that apply.

If your course is listed as having additional admission criteria, you must meet the required ATAR and satisfy the additional admission criteria.

Ensure that you check your degree for detailed information.

Guaranteed ATARs and equivalent scores apply to international students who have completed an accepted secondary education (high school or Year 12) qualification. The scores we list for non-Australian Year 12 qualifications are an ATAR equivalent score based on assessment schedules that are subject to change. The guaranteed scores will not apply to international applicants who have also undertaken tertiary studies.

Most courses will have a guaranteed ATAR (or equivalent), subject to meeting other admission criteria such as mathematics prerequisites and English language requirements.

Ensure that you check your degree for detailed information.
