Guaranteed Entry

We offer Guaranteed Entry to most of our courses, below you will find a list of our guaranteed selection ranks (ATAR + adjustment factors) that guarantee admission.

To be offered a place in a Guaranteed Entry course, list the course as your highest eligible preference when you apply. If you meet the Guaranteed Entry selection rank and all essential admission criteria for your selected course (e.g. mathematics prerequisites if applicable), then you will be eligible to receive an offer of admission, subject to availability of places.

We offer many admission pathways through which you may be eligible for adjustments factors to boost your selection rank. If you are a domestic student undertaking an Australian state or territory Year 12 qualification or the IB diploma, you might be eligible for our Academic Excellence Scheme. This scheme recognises high performance in higher levels of English and mathematics by applying adjustment factors to boost your selection rank for eligible courses. Note that some courses and/or applicants may not be eligible for adjustment factors or admission pathways.

Make sure you check the admission criteria and any other important requirements that may apply to your preferred course. Please note, not all of our courses have Guaranteed Entry, as some have limited places and/or additional admission criteria (e.g. auditions, interviews). These courses will have an indicative selection rank to serve as a guide for admission.

Further information on eligibility, applying with an IB diploma, or other overseas qualification can be found below.

All domestic students applying based on a current Australian year 12 (high school) qualification, such as the NSW HSC, VCE, are eligible, subject to availability of places

Note: Applicants undertaking non-Australian secondary qualifications will have their scores converted to an ATAR equivalent score. The assessment schedules used to convert these scores to an ATAR equivalent are subject to change and therefore these scores cannot be guaranteed.

Guaranteed Entry does not apply to all courses.

Selection ranks listed above with an asterisk (*) are indicative and do not offer Guaranteed Entry. These selection ranks are a guide only and a higher rank may be needed to gain admission into these courses. Even if the selection rank is met, the additional admission criteria must be satisfied. For some courses, we publish a guaranteed selection rank and if you meet the selection rank and additional admission criteria, you will be eligible for an offer of admission, subject to the availability of places.

Check your course for detailed information on additional admission criteria.

Many of our courses require you to meet other essential admission criteria (e.g. maths prerequisite, audition/portfolio). Check your course details for further information.

You will be notified by UAC if you receive an offer. For further information on timelines and notification periods, refer to UAC.

Guaranteed Entry applies to all UAC offer rounds the University participates in. The selection ranks published as guaranteed for a specific year will not change throughout the preference and admissions period (including the December, January and February UAC rounds).

IB students should refer to the 2022 Admission Guide for domestic students (pdf, 72.9KB) for more information.

The IB diploma scores listed are a guide based on an ATAR equivalent conversion and subject to change. IB applicants are also eligible for adjustment factors but adjustment factors are not added to an applicant’s IB score. IB scores are converted to an ATAR equivalent rank with eligible adjustment factors applied thereafter.

Guaranteed Entry is not relevant to international students. Read the 2021 guide to admission criteria for international students (pdf, 126.3KB) for further information.

For New Zealand students, if you completed the National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3, an Interstate Transfer Index (ITI) will be calculated by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). This will be used in the admission process as the ATAR equivalent score, provided you have fulfilled university entrance requirements as set by NZQA.

If you’re an interstate student undertaking an Australian Year 12 qualification and you meet the published guaranteed selection rank for your course, you will be eligible to receive an offer subject to meeting all essential admission criteria and availability of places.
