Student life

An unforgettable student experience
Get involved in everything our campus has to offer and make a bunch of new friends along the way. Our community and co-curricular opportunities create a diverse, supportive and vibrant student experience.

University life isn't just about the classes. It's also a chance for you to make lifelong friends, try new things, develop your hobbies and interests, gain leadership skills and have fun.

There are countless opportunities to immerse yourself into our vibrant student life, and make the most of your university experience.

The University of Sydney Union (USU) is a big part of what makes our student experience so memorable.

One of the few remaining independent, student-led organisations in Australia, they organise clubs and societies, events and programs throughout the year.

Membership is free, and you can upgrade to USU Rewards to access discounts and offers across campus.

Clubs and societies

SCA Medieval Society is the society for medieval reenactment.

We have over 250 clubs and societies, bringing together students to celebrate their culture, indulge in a favourite food, discuss a fandom, develop a professional network and more.

There's bound to be one (or many) that interests you - but if there isn't, then start your own! It's a great way to make friends outside the classroom, discover a new hobby and develop your skills.

Sports and fitness

Student journalists

If you're a budding journalist, there's no better place to be. Published since 1929, Honi Soit is the only weekly student publication in Australia, and has been edited by an illustrious list of alumni.

We're also home to Pulp, an online publication, and SURG, a student radio station.
