Missing the social side of uni? Most societies are now hosting online events, which you can easily find through their Facebook pages. SUDS are hosting theatre games and performances, FrenchSoc has three weekly casual conversation catch-ups over Zoom, and the Quidditch Club are hosting workshops, crafts and social nights, just to name a few.
You might not be able to hit the gym right now, but SUSF have the next best thing. Tune in to their Facebook page for livestreamed workout classes with their professional instructors every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10am and every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm. For something different, the Interfaculty Sport team are hosting a weekly Zoom workout every Wednesday morning, with a new activity every week, such as yoga, Zoomba, HIIT, Pilates and 80s aerobics. If that’s not enough, you can also access on demand versions of all your favourite Les Mills fitness classes.
Our ICPU program is running almost the same as ever, with a little help from Zoom. Students are working together remotely from all over the world, including Sydney, China, United Kingdom, USA and Pakistan. In Semester 1, over 600 students are working with 17 different industry partners to solve complex, real world problems. Our partners have been impressed with our students’ dedication to the projects at hand – with one student calling in at 4am from their time zone in a suit and tie. Keep an eye out for Semester 2 registrations opening in June.
If you miss the campaign t-shirts, A-frames and policy chats on your way to class from Redfern, you’re in luck. The USU election is going ahead, with voting conducted online for the first time in the USU’s history. Who knows, maybe online voting will be a trend that continues in the future? Find out all about the candidates here and get ready to vote when the polls open on Monday 18 May.
Our public talks program, where world-changing thinkers discuss ideas that make a difference, has moved online. Hear from leading academics as they share their knowledge about everything from vaccines to geopolitics. If you miss the livestreamed events, you can catch up with the podcast.
Did you know you have full access to the Library’s online resources, journals and databases from home? If you need some assistance, the Library team are online to support your research needs with their Chat Now service. If you’re looking for something a little more social, the Library’s Peer Learning Advisors host a virtual coffee in the cloud on Wednesdays and Fridays to help you de-stress while we talk about what we’ve all been up to and if you need any additional support.
INCUBATE is alive and well, with the start-up program running through virtual workshops. Join other people who are interested in all things innovation, inventiveness and entrepreneurship at the monthly online Innovation Campus Meetup.
Campus might be empty, but our support services are always available to help you succeed this semester.
