Guaranteed Entry: what are my options?

A guaranteed spot in your dream degree
There’s a lot to consider when selecting your university preferences, but we’re here to help. We have answered your frequently asked questions about Guaranteed Entry, so you understand what's required to be offered a guaranteed place.

What is Guaranteed Entry?

Short answer: A confirmed place in an eligible degree.

Guaranteed Entry gives you a confirmed place in an eligible university degree if you achieve the required selection rank (ATAR + adjustments) and meet any other admissions criteria. This gives you the confidence to select a course and know that you will receive an offer if you meet the selection rank and other admission criteria.

If I don’t meet the guaranteed selection rank, can I still get an offer?

Short answer: It depends.

If you don’t meet the guaranteed selection rank, you may still be eligible to receive an offer. With the guaranteed selection rank, you can be confident you’ll receive an offer if you’ve achieved this rank and any other admission criteria. We may make additional offers below the guaranteed selection rank depending on places available.

Are there other admission criteria?

Short answer: Depends on the course you want to do.

Some of our courses require you to meet other essential admission criteria (e.g. mathematics prerequisite, audition/portfolio). You can check the course page for further information.

Do all courses have Guaranteed Entry?

Short answer: No.

Some courses do not have a guaranteed selection rank and are indicative. These selection ranks are a guide. To be eligible for admission, you may need to achieve a higher selection rank and also meet additional admission criteria.

Can I use Guaranteed Entry to get an offer in a later offer round?

Short answer: No, it only applies to the first UAC offer round.

Guaranteed Entry only applies to the first UAC offer round you are eligible to receive an offer in. Refer to UAC's key dates for their offer rounds. Courses may be full after each offer round, however, for courses with vacancies, you may still be eligible to receive an offer in later rounds based on your selection rank.

I am doing the International Baccalaureate (IB), am I eligible for Guaranteed Entry?

Short answers: Yes.

Whilst our guaranteed entry is based on an ATAR, UAC converts IB Admissions Scores (IBAS) into ATARs. The same Guaranteed ATAR applies for ATARs converted from an IBAS in the first UAC offer round in which  you are eligible to receive an offer.

I am an international student, am I eligible for Guaranteed Entry?

Short answer: No.

To be eligible for Guaranteed Entry you must be a domestic student. This means an Australian or New Zealand citizen (including dual citizens), a permanent resident of Australia, or a holder of a permanent Australian humanitarian visa.
