This unit introduces you to Arabic media in its diverse forms and styles, both written and electronic. It allows you to practise your advanced Arabic language skills, enrich your understanding of Arab cultures, and become familiar with specialised vocabulary, structures, and regional variations. In the process, you will develop your analytical and critical skills.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. develop advanced to superior proficiency level in reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • LO2. demonstrate an understanding of media Arabic as a genre
  • LO3. demonstrate the ability to critically engage with Arabic news
  • LO4. examine and analyse Arabic news across Arab and non-Arab media outlets
  • LO5. demonstrate the development of deeper cultural awareness of the Arab culture.
