2023 unit information

The buildings, technologies, gardens, symbols, weapons and arts of Asia reveal much about the region's history and culture. This unit examines these and other material objects with the aim of exploring sweeping traits that tie Asian societies together into cohesive cultural streams indicative of shared religions, languages, and practices.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO2. find, organize and appraise a variety of sources about and from Asia to execute independent and collaborative investigation of social, historical and cultural phenomena
  • LO3. apply the methods of a specific discipline or use a manifestly interdisciplinary approach to complete independent and collaborative projects
  • LO4. deconstruct a variety of cultural phenomena in Asia and draw conclusions about social, political, and historical undercurrents
  • LO5. make use of digital technology to communicate original and academically sound ideas in attractive and persuasive ways.
