The unit aims to extend knowledge of the human body, focusing on key processes that shape the human lifespan. Building on earlier cell biology and genetics teaching, students will be introduced to concepts of cell division in health and disease. This will be extended to the understanding of human reproduction, embryology and development to adulthood from both anatomical and physiological perspectives. The latter part of the unit will take an applied approach, providing examples of disease states occurring in adulthood, mid-life and ageing.
