Design for Climate and Ecology introduces students to a holistic understanding, investigation and application of sustainable architecture that comprehensively considers and achieves exemplary design standards for tackling the climate emergency and ecological pressures. It guides students to explore key themes pertinent to design for climate and ecology, including passive solar and ecological design, design for the health and well-being of people and community, and design for equity and place. Students will be equipped with the integrated skills to analyse, critique and synthesise technical, analytical and performance-based design knowledge and practices through architectural project-based tasks. In this unit, students will analyse the design of a small-scale architectural project from a climatic and ecological design perspective.
