Music Notation builds student capacity to notate music at a professional industry standard. Through the study of published scores and textbooks on music notation, students learn the standards of music notation, and how to approach complex or difficult notational problems. This unit introduces professional music notation software. A series of short challenges develops skills in key areas of music notation, including the preparation of scores and parts, and piano reductions. Students will develop skills in notating music for chamber, solo and orchestral scores throughout the semester.
