DECO1014: Digital Media Production

This unit introduces students to the principles of digital media production for online and screen-based applications. In studying this unit, students will develop an understanding of how to document design projects, concepts or processes through digital storytelling and video production. Key concepts covered in this unit include: video capture techniques, video editing, transitions, titles, colour grading, content and flow management. Using industry standard software for video production, students will learn how to conceptualise, record and edit video content.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. conduct research using appropriate tools and methods to further develop their knowledge and understanding
  • LO2. develop, experiment, explore and research a number of potential outcomes in response to a design brief
  • LO3. identify, research and develop the elements of film and design in order to communicate an idea
  • LO4. develop new innovative visual designs and solutions through the use of video
  • LO5. work in a team and negotiate decision making and task allocation
  • LO6. develop and maintain an achievable production schedule including software skills.
