At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. demonstrate in the clinical setting an emerging understanding of the moral, cultural, ethical principles, legal responsibilities and regulatory requirements involved in the management of emergencies
- LO2. demonstrate through reflective learning an understanding of personal and patient limitations, and the need for continuing professional development in the management of emergencies
- LO3. demonstrate an emerging capacity in communicating effectively with the dental team and other health professionals in emergencies
- LO4. demonstrate an emerging capacity in critically evaluating research and the literature, products and techniques in forming an evidenced based practice
- LO5. demonstrate a thorough knowledge of evidenced-based information in relation to team centered and algorithmic approaches to emergency management
- LO6. demonstrate a thorough knowledge of evidence-based information in relation to electronic monitoring that is pertinent to emergency management
- LO7. demonstrate a thorough knowledge of evidence-based information in relation to the pre-eminent place of non-technical skills and human factors in emergency management

- LO9. demonstrate in the clinical setting an emerging knowledge of the management of acute medical emergencies
- LO10. demonstrate a thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical agents used in managing medical emergencies
- LO11. use, manage and troubleshoot relevant electronic monitoring that is pertinent to emergency management
- LO12. demonstrate emerging skills and understanding in managing acute medical emergencies, including simulated emergencies, and display high level crisis management skills
- LO13. demonstrate an emerging skill in methods of airway control in medical emergencies on a manikin.
