DENT5404: Clinical Periodontics 1B
2024 unit information
Clinical non-surgical management of patients with mainly mild and moderate (Stage I/II ; Grade A/B) forms of periodontitis and milder forms of peri-implant diseases. Other types of periodontal diseases will be approached as required. The clinical focus of these units of study is on all non-surgical clinical aspects of periodontology and implantology of concern to the provision of safe and effective prevention, non-surgical treatment and maintenance of Stage I/II Grade A/B periodontitis and milder forms of peri-implant diseases. Students may be required to attend classes at multiple locations.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. evaluate and demonstrate the assessment; diagnosis and treatment planning process
- LO2. demonstrate all aspects of non-surgical periodontal therapy in stage 1/2 grade A/B periodontitis and milder forms of peri-implant diseases
- LO3. demonstrate basic surgical skills
- LO4. document each phase of treatment fully, in order to subsequently present these cases for evaluation.
