DENT6413: Advanced Clinical Prosthodontics 4B

2024 unit information

This unit continues with advanced didactic training at the highest postgraduate level in advanced fixed and removable prosthodontics. Development of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis and synthesis of information on advanced prosthodontics via tutorials, journal discussions, self directed study, seminar preparation and delivery. Students may be required to attend classes at multiple locations.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. appraise and argue when evaluating the merits of conflicting philosophies with regard to the diagnosis, management and maintenance of the prosthodontic patient and the rationale for the clinical and laboratory procedures employed in the construction of different types of restorations and prostheses.
  • LO2. describe the relevance of prognosis, patient related treatment outcomes and maintenance for the prosthodontic patient
  • LO3. appraise, argue and defend the theoretical knowledge in fixed and removable prosthodontics, including related implant dentistry, required from a board registered specialist.
  • LO4. show competence in scientific and clinical writing for literature review, case reports and collegial communication
