DVST6911 Dissertation Part A is the first part of a two semester dissertation project of 12,000-15,000 words through which students engage in independent scholarly research about an issue of their own choosing and relevant to their discipline.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. write a project proposal using concrete and well grounded case studies
  • LO2. identifying and assessing the strength of the available literature on a specific aspect of development in a particular region
  • LO3. develop skills that expedite and improve the dissertation writing process
  • LO4. provide one’s argument a strong empirical basis
  • LO5. contribute constructively and critically to group discussions.
