2022 unit information
This unit is the final part of a two semester dissertation project of 12,000-15,000 words through which students engage in independent scholarly research about an issue of their own choosing and relevant to their discipline.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. write using concrete and well grounded case studies
- LO2. astutely employ relevant concepts to frame an argument
- LO3. identify and assess the strength of the available literature on a specific aspect of development in a particular region
- LO4. manage time and research development skills that expedite and improve the dissertation writing process
- LO5. produce writing that demonstrates an application of the conceptual and empirical dimensions that form solid arguments
- LO6. identify and use a variety of illustrative writing techniques
- LO7. give one’s argument a strong empirical basis.
