ECOP3021: Development and Environment in India
2020 unit information
This is an intensive 3 week integrated program of classes and field visits on the political economy of development and environmental management in India. The course provides students with a cross-disciplinary international learning experience in which they develop familiarity with an important Asian regional economy and the cultural competency to do research in this context.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. explain the meaning and contextual usage of key terms used by human geographers and political economists in the analysis of development and environmental sustainability, specifically in the Indian context
- LO2. use field observation as a method for analysing urban and natural landscapes
- LO3. undertake academic literature searches and to be aware of the conventions relating to academic literature
- LO4. undertake problem-solving research into developmental and environmental issues
- LO5. appraise issues relating to contemporary debates about development and environment in India.
