This unit develops the skills needed to conduct and critically appraise economic policy evaluations. The policy evaluations considered will be drawn from a range of contexts, both micro- and macroeconomic, including education, consumption and saving, health, and environment. Throughout the unit, students will be introduced to econometric methodologies extensively used in the policy evaluation literature, including instrumental variables, difference-in-differences, and regression discontinuity designs. Practical computer applications using statistical software are incorporated.
