As global population increases it is critical that we manage our renewable natural resources in an efficient and sustainable way. To this end, the unit develops knowledge and skills in the economics of renewable natural resources. The economics of dynamic natural systems is studied through application of advanced modelling approaches. Emphasis is given to the economic mechanisms for managing water, fisheries, forests, and renewable energy resources. Key policy instruments: taxes, quotas, and market mechanisms are analysed. Institutional and policy aspects are considered via analysis of policy reform in Australia and globally.
