EDPD6001: Researching Open Employment

2026 unit information

This unit requires students to demonstrate their understanding of action research methodology in examining their own learning about open employment, and how they assist a client achieve set outcomes for gaining employment in the community. Project will be discussed as part of in-class problem-based learning sessions, with the final product presented verbally to the class, and in writing to class tutor.

Learning outcomes

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

LO1. Discuss and analyse a range of research design methodologies used in educational research
LO2. Critically analyse the use of action research in educational research
LO3. Plan, implement and evaluate an action research project that demonstrates a growth in knowledge and understanding of the open employment process
LO4. Present verbally findings of action research project to colleagues, justifying decision-making through the use of research literature in open employment
LO5. Demonstrate an understanding of differing legislation (e.g., workplace, disabilities) through verbal written and reports of action research reports
LO6. Justify decisions made in the course of the action research that highlight links to quality assurance protocols
