This unit, second in a series, develops the skills and understanding required for implementing the Classical Hebrew options for stage 4 and 5 in the Modern Hebrew K?10 Board of Studies NSW Syllabus. It builds on the skills and knowledge gained in Classical Hebrew Curriculum 1. Students will engage in some peer teaching, thereby rehearsing skills they will be using in professional practice.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. demonstrate skills in planning activities and well-structured lesson plans in order to teach the historical, cultural and linguistic content of Classical Hebrew texts in Years 7-10, as per the NESA Hebrew K-10 syllabus. 1.1.1, 1.3.1, 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.3.1, 2.5.1, 2.6.1, 3.2.1, 4.1.1.
  • LO2. integrate the learning of the language of Classical Hebrew with its historical and cultural contexts to enable a thorough understanding of the meaning, relevance and application of the texts. 2.1.1, 2.2.1.
  • LO3. develop a cohesive curriculum unit in Classical Hebrew and/or Jewish studies appropriate to learners with a range of skills, interests and prior achievements, demonstrating an understanding of a range of assessment practices, strategies for family learning and the moral and faith development of adolescents. 1.1.1, 1.3.1, 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.3.1, 2.5.1, 2.6.1, 3.2.1, 4.1.1.
  • LO4. access, evaluate and apply a wide range of appropriate teaching resources, including ICTs, taking into account diverse student backgrounds, needs, interests and abilities. 1.1.1, 2.1.1, 2.5.1, 4.1.1.
  • LO5. demonstrate the skill of reflection on pedagogical issues and teaching practice through peer feedback. 6.3.1
