This unit of study unpacks and puts into practice the latest developments in identifying, valuing, and financing start-ups. Fundamental valuation approaches considered in corporate finance are extended to model the opportunities and the capital structure relevant to a new venture. The unit also covers the process of venture capital funding and the challenges of managing and funding growth, growth and exit strategies employed by entrepreneurial ventures, and later stage financing, including several equity issue rounds, convertible debt, mezzanine financing and buy-outs.
