At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. expand their knowledge of a specific area within their field in the context of improved knowledge of the field as a whole
  • LO2. acquire and evaluate new knowledge in their field through independent research
  • LO3. approach a topic analytically, creatively, and critically
  • LO4. engage in critical analysis of literature in order to differentiate between academic and policy writing
  • LO5. demonstrate a solid capacity for research enquiry and methodology including the acquisition, evaluation and incorporation of source materials
  • LO6. effectively manage a piece of dedicated research scholarship autonomously in accord with supervisor’s recommendations
  • LO7. communicate effectively in accord with professional academic conventions, including that of writing style, to a high standard.
