These practical language classes build on GRMN3005. By the end of the unit you will be able to communicate on a range of complex texts and situations, and to express yourself in German with a degree of fluency. Using authentic materials in the classroom will also enable you to improve your cultural competency and deepen your knowledge of the German-speaking world.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. express yourself with competence on a range of topics, expressing a point of view and articulating the advantages and disadvantages of various options in a given situation on a B 2.2 level (see Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • LO2. demonstrate a broader knowledge of the German language as a tool of communication, thereby achieving a higher degree of competence in your progress towards the command of the German language
  • LO3. demonstrate greater skill in the comprehending of progressively more sophisticated and complex German texts
  • LO4. demonstrate revised, practised and extended grammatical and vocabulary knowledge
  • LO5. demonstrate an awareness of the problems associated with the learning of a foreign language and apply a problem-solving approach to deal with these difficulties
  • LO6. organise and communicate in German your own creative, imaginative and critical thinking.
