2024 unit information

These practical language classes build on GRMN3007. By the end of the unit you will be able to understand the main ideas of complex texts and situations, and to express yourself in German fluently and spontaneously. You will be able to express and justify your views on topical issues, both verbally and in writing. Using authentic materials in the classroom will also enable you to improve your cultural competency and deepen your knowledge of the German-speaking world.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. express yourself on a range of topics, expressing a point of view and give the advantages and disadvantages of various possibilities
  • LO2. demonstrate a broader knowledge of the German language as a tool of communication, thereby achieving a higher degree of competence in your progress towards the command of the German language
  • LO3. demonstrate revised, practised and extended grammatical and vocabulary knowledge
  • LO4. demonstrate greater skill in the comprehending of progressively more sophisticated and complex German texts
  • LO5. demonstrate an awareness of the problems associated with the learning of a foreign language and applied a problem-solving approach to deal with these difficulties
