At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. translate Biblical Hebrew prosaic and legal texts with attention to their salient linguistic features
  • LO2. analyse biblical segments in their literary context while examining their literary-historical setting
  • LO3. understand how the linguistic features of the biblical text relate to its exegesis
  • LO4. read old Hebrew script
  • LO5. understand the most important issues in the study of ancient inscriptions, and their relevance for biblical studies
