IBUS2202: Cross-Cultural Management

2027 unit information

This unit examines how culture shapes behaviour in international and multicultural business contexts. Students develop a theoretically grounded understanding of culture by engaging with key conceptual frameworks used to analyse cultural differences and their implications for management. The unit emphasises the critical application of cultural theories to real world management issues, including communication, teamwork, leadership, negotiation, and ethical decision making across cultures. Through a combination of analytical tasks, group work, and structured reflection, students learn to use theory to explain cross cultural challenges and to propose informed management responses. By the end of the unit, students will have developed cultural awareness and cultural intelligence grounded in conceptual understanding, alongside the ability to analyse and reflect on their own and others’ cultural assumptions in global workplace settings.
