IMPR4007: Improvised Music Ensemble 7

2023 unit information

Improvised Ensemble 7 is a project based weekly group improvisation session. In this unit students prepare series of three performances of improvised music. Each performance can revisit venues the students have previously performed at in their SPW projects of years 1-3. Students will engage with the specific venue subjects - exhibition, history, culture. Students will be required to collaborate in project themes that are associated the specific venue subjects and participate in group decision making and experimental creativity.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. LO1. improvise as a soloist, in a duo partner, as an ensemble player.
  • LO2. LO2. create semi- prepared structures for improvisation performance that are influenced by information about an introduced subject, and the space and location of the performance.
  • LO3. LO3. lead and direct an ensemble of musicians in performances of improvised music.
  • LO4. LO4. describe and develop creative processes of musical interaction and communication
  • LO5. LO5. experience an interdisciplinary collaboration
