At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. Understand what different linguistic approaches can be applied in the study of language disorders, medical treatment and its governance;
- LO2. Recognize a variety of different communicative activities or genres used in medical processes;
- LO3. Demonstrate how an understanding of language can be used to enact, construct and negotiate medical understandings and norms;
- LO4. Demonstrate awareness of the (research and applied) field of clinical linguistics;
- LO5. Engage with and critically apply their understanding of language and medicine in small research projects
