Economics is the science of choice that provides a lens through which interactions between individuals, businesses, governments and organisations can be understood. Students are introduced to the economic way of thinking and by drawing on examples from the 'real world', this unit provides economic insights into everyday behaviours and decisions.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. understand some basic principles of economic analysis
- LO2. demonstrate an ability to apply economic tools to the analysis of a real-world problem
- LO3. describe the meaning of unintended consequences of economic policy decisions and identify real-world examples of unintended consequences
- LO4. communicate economic principles in a coherent manner.
