What should I know about the Arab world, as a young professional who aspires to a global career? Who are the Arabs? What is Islam? What the main political debates in the Arab World? This Unit answers to these and other questions, promoting an up-to-date understanding of the relation between the Arab world and Australia.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. explain aspects of cultural, social, and political diversity and complexity in the Arab World
- LO2. understand some historical, cultural, social, and political changes and debates in the Arab World
- LO3. critically examine representations of the region and its people in Western academia, arts, and mass media
- LO4. evaluate sources for independent learning and research about the Arab World
- LO5. interpret Arab World issues critically and apply a cross-cultural vision in their professional fields
- LO6. cultivate an understanding of self and others, and cultural competence for engaging with Arab people
- LO7. develop analytical researched arguments and communicate them in written and multimodal texts
