At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting with headaches
  • LO2. Identify the diagnostic criteria for common and less common categories of headaches
  • LO3. Discuss the evidence base for the treatment and management of headache disorders
  • LO4. Determine appropriateness of investigative strategies or referral
  • LO5. Outline an appropriate treatment plan, including acute and preventative measures, for patients with primary and secondary headaches.
