SNGP3001: Comprehensive Nursing Assessment

2024 unit information

This unit of study focuses on the knowledge, skills and capabilities required by registered nurses for the advanced clinical assessment of patients. Students will further develop their comprehensive nursing assessment of patients and thereby understanding of the related biological and psychosocial determinants of health and wellbeing. The unit will also focus on the translation of comprehensive assessment to facilitate evidence-based nursing practice.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. demonstrate an advanced comprehensive nursing assessment of a person with complex care needs and document findings
  • LO2. relate the processes of health assessment to the delivery of holistic patient care by selecting and implementing appropriate assessment practices
  • LO3. synthesise and analyse all information acquired from the comprehensive nursing assessment to plan appropriate strategies for managing patient care.
