USSC6205: Internship Project

This is one of two units of study in an internship sequence that may be undertaken in partial fulfilment of requirements for the award of Master of Letters in US Studies. The project (Part 2) requires the completion of a research project on behalf of the workplace partner. In order to be considered, a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 70% across all units undertaken toward the Master of US Studies degree is required. Admission is subject to the Director's approval.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. provide exposure for students to an American business, government, or non-governmental organisation with international (and significantly Australian) presence
  • LO2. enable students to participate in a broad range of professional practices
  • LO3. provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge acquired in their studies
  • LO4. develop students’ confidence and professional communication skills and communicate arguments and analyses confidently and effectively
  • LO5. develop students’ understanding of ethical issues in relation to business, government, and society and strengthen their capacity to work through such issues in working life
  • LO6. apply research and critical thinking skills to problems experienced within the work environment
  • LO7. reflect critically on personal and professional development as it relates to both the workplace and university.
