VETS9013: Advanced Case Report in Vet Studies
2024 unit information
This unit will require the investigation and preparation of a case report suitable for publication in a scientific journal. The case chosen should make a novel contribution to the veterinary literature. The length of the case report will vary according to journal requirements. Oral presentation(s) will form a part of the assessment for this unit, varying according to the required length of the report. Students should discuss the case regularly with their supervisor and complete a student/supervisor agreement form early to submit to the Sub Dean for Postgraduate Coursework.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. Identify and critically evaluate a clinical case or case series that is suitable to submit for publication.
- LO2. Review and summarise relevant veterinary, and (where applicable) the wider scientific literature on a defined clinical topic
- LO3. Prepare a manuscript in a style and format, to a standard that is suitable for journal publication submission
- LO4. Revise and improve the quality of a draft manuscript by responding to feedback on different aspects of the manuscript such as clarity and quality of writing, errors in data analysis, formatting and referencing, and analysis and discussion of findings.
