Processes and policies

Right to work in Australia

All prospective or appointed staff members to the University must have the relevant right to work in Australia before commencing employment at the University.

You will be required to provide one form of original identification that verifies your right to work in Australia to Human Resources.

Acceptable documents are:

  • an Australian passport or Australian citizenship certificate, or
  • a valid Australian visa with permission to work for example, copy of visa grant letter or Department of Home Affairs’ Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) check, or
  • a full Australian birth certificate for a person born before 20 August 1986, or
  • a full Australian birth certificate for a person born on or after 20 August 1986, showing that at least one parent was born in Australia.

It is the responsibility of staff members and visitors to ensure that they have a valid Australian work rights for the duration of their employment or activities at the University.
