Congratulations to Professor Lisa Adkins

Following an extensive competitive search, Professor Lisa Adkins has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS).

Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Annamarie Jagose has announced the appointment of Professor Lisa Adkins to the role of Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS).

Professor Lisa Adkins was appointed to Interim Dean of FASS in October 2021 and previously held the role of Deputy Dean concurrently with the role of Head of the School of Social and Political Sciences within FASS.

Lisa brings to the role extensive experience in academic leadership, a passion for teaching and research excellence, and an adeptness for leading cultural change.

“A researcher of international standing, Lisa has an excellent track record in securing external research funding and has served on a number of different national research councils. She is also committed to providing an outstanding experience to students through effective learning environments and enabling genuine access to educational programs.

“Lisa is an enthusiastic advocate for lifting the profile of our teaching and research activities and has a clear vision for shaping a forward-looking faculty. I look forward to seeing Lisa’s continued contribution to the future success of FASS and the broader University,” added Professor Jagose.

In acknowledging her appointment, Lisa said: “I am terrifically excited and honoured to have the opportunity to lead this diverse and successful faculty at such an important point in its history.”
