CEMA supports education sectors, governments, businesses, and the University by efficiently and cost-effectively developing capacity in assessment practice informed by research. CEMA aims to provide services to the education sector, the wider education community and associated businesses.
CEMA is committed to:
We have extensive community dedicated to empowering educators and are committed to working with educational partners, to strengthen a confident teacher voice. To help assure the technical veracity and impartiality of public commentary on educational assessment and reporting. With our partners we aim to build a depth of expertise, develop solutions that prioritise meeting students’ needs and address patterns of educational attainment and disadvantage.
We collaboratively design professional learning programs for teachers and schools and have done so with the NSW Teachers Federation, Catholic Schools NSW, Association of Independent Schools of NSW, the Independent Education Union of Australia NSW/ACT and many more.
Previously we have partnered with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) to support teachers’ engagement with, and understanding of, assessment and the use of data to inform teaching and learning. CEMA also contributes to articles and our partners’ journals.
We also have partnerships with the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne, the University of Western Australia and the University of Salerno, Italy.
Within the University we partner with the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Education (DVCE) and within the Sydney School of Education and Social Work, we have partnerships with the Centre for Research on Learning and Innovation (CRLI), the Special Education Team, Sydney Institute for Community Languages Education (SICLE) and the Educational Leadership Team.
The CEMA Assessment Advisory Committee represents the interests of the centre’s partners. It consists of representatives from the education sector, unions, agencies, and the University. CAAC assures the appropriateness of CEMA’s planning, business model and general activity. It advises on the perspectives and priorities of these groups. CAAC also identifies opportunities for CEMA to achieve its commitments through its undertakings, projects and partnerships.
