The PhD Conference in Economics and Business brings together doctoral students and academics from universities across Australia and internationally. The conference provides a collegial environment for the presentation and discussion of current research in economics and finance.
Each year, the conference hosts approximately 30 PhD students who present their research to an academic audience. Every presenter is paired with a dedicated discussant - an experienced senior researcher selected for their subject-matter expertise - who provides detailed and constructive feedback.
This model is a defining feature of the conference, supporting a high standard of scholarly exchange. Participants also benefit from discussion and engagement with peers and attending academics.
The conference showcases research across a broad range of topics in economics and finance.
Established in 1987 by the Business School at the University of Western Australia, the conference is jointly supported by a network of seven Australian universities.
